Wherein Gregor realizes the trope he has become.
This page was tough for some reason, and I really wasn’t feeling the coloring this time. I think I might just be getting some kind of cabin fever from this scene, which is fortunate since this is the last page of it XD.
On the bright side, Ten is getting easier to draw. People who followed the Livejournal during Chapter 1 might remember how much trouble drawing his face used to give me XD. Now I just need to keep drawing him so I don’t forget how I’ve been doing it :B.
The vote incentive is a bunch of Everblue sketches all in one convenient image file :]
Oh, you may have noticed the new banner up there
. Been meaning to replace the old one for a while
.
Thanks for reading!

lol “Why yes. Yes they are. It’s a job requirement”. Oh, Ten…XD Although I have a feeling she’ll somehow or other end up leaving with him now anyway…She did work hard to make that ship.
Even if you weren’t feeling the colorin’ this time, it still came out nice I say. The glass in panel 3 is lovely. I want to touch it… *pokes page*

Haha, we shall see :B
Thanks
. Sometimes the coloring comes really easy and I get it done really quick, but other times I seem to forget everything I know and it takes forever… This was just one of those pages for me, I guess XD.

XD I love Gregor’s face in the last panel. Like an ‘uh…wut’ moment. Awesome!

Don´t worry Ten, if you run out of patient, just tie her up and throw her on the boat. No one can hear you scream in the middel of the ocean, kakakaka

That, Ten, is why they serve alcohol.
Something tells me Gregor’s had a rough time with his family plan. Epileptic tree says mummy-girl is his daughter. I’ll have her related to half the cast before the big reveal. Good to have your bases covered.
Still loving the lighting. The depth it adds has an interesting effect on the Japanesque styles, which tend to be rather flat looking.

Well, with Alvise [or whatever his name is, I'm too lazy to go spell-check] for a son, I’d be a little disappointed, too.. :B

Was his son already introduced? Can’t believe I forgot that.

Yeah, that soldier who was standing with Seta in the opening scene and spinning stories about sea-serpents. That’s Gregor’s son.

He did run into some trouble trying to live that life. The military he left behind ended up breaking his family apart. More on that in a later chapter (hopefully) :B.
Clara is everyone’s relative *whatatwist*
Thanks so much :]. Sometimes I feel like I’m not coloring as well as I was a page before — maybe it’s just me XD.

Probably just you. As artists improve they begin to see more and more of the flaws in their own work. I’ve often experienced this as an artist, myself. That’s where we get our motivation to improve, after all.

your not an artist if you don’t find flaws in your early work. (because you see it in your head)
the reason i said early work was because they are the ones with the most flaws. some can draw as good as real life.
(may my early sketchbooks burn!)

Nice lampshading there. xD
And the hands, you are getting better~ I don’t mean to sound like a 1-track record, but you are getting it down *fast*, subtly using hands and body language to convey meaning as well as the dialog. Everything from the way Gregor holds the dishes to Ten’s playful mannerisms are being captured beautifully. :3

I remember I used to try to do a lot more with the characters hands, even in chapter one, but I think I got sort of lazy after I started coloring everything. Thanks for kicking me back into gear XD

Bartenders: nature’s psychologists. Or at any rate, humanity’s precursor to psychologists. Love Ten’s line in the last panel, there.
Oh hey, new banner! … and you actually announced it in the comment, too. Bummer, now I can’t show off my observant-ness (*should* be a word*).
Can’t fault your colouring in this page, even though you seem to be unsure about it. But colouring is definitely one of your greatest skills, and perhaps you can detect problems I cannot. I do like the sunlight glow, though.

Aw, I should have held off on mentioning it to see how many people noticed :B
Thanks
. I’m probably just thinking about it too much. Sometimes I notice little things that I’m doing wrong and they end up bugging me, even though they probably aren’t effecting the whole image as much as I think XD.

I wonder if he’s happy with the family he has, heheh :3
BUT YES. Gregor knows too much, all this advice on patience with friends and similarity between two “different” people… I’m betting my pocket money he’s a ninja now :B
Maybe a little weird to say, but I like the perspective on the 2nd panel; has a nice view of Gregor’s work space and the other superfluous customers (along with the last panel) :]
Also scrolling down, the double Ten expression panels made me think it was animated for a second XD nice way of making it feel kinda movie like! Ten’s dialog on the last panel just put the icing on the childish cute cake, haha!
Where does Gregor buy those paintings? Heheh I must know 8D (UNLESS HE PAINTED THEM) (that being said he’d be an advice-giving ninja painter/artist bartender) (argh)
pretty, preeeettty shiny glass cup…except on the last panel D: looks like the glass cup is going over to the dark side :c

Gregor’s job offers him the unique opportunity to see all kinds of people from this city and others. He’s talked to a lot of different folk and heard their stories, so he knows quite a bit about people… Also, there’s the ninja thing :B.
All the paintings in there were done by a single artist, and may have been donated or traded. I was actually thinking there should be a story behind them, but I haven’t gotten around to that yet XD.
Haha, I wanted to make the glass shiny there too, but I couldn’t justify it with all the shadows XD.
Thanks!

The look on Gregor’s face seems to me to be saying “Heeeeeeey, I bet I could get my name in the paper with this kind of advice……” either that, or he’s waiting for the WA WA WA WAAAAAAAA sound to kick in. Those were standard in bars around that time, right?

Haha, don’t know if you’ve ever watched Bones, but there’s a quote from one episode that fits this perfectly. “How do you know these things?”
“Hey, I’m a bartender. I’m practically a psycologist.”
