I don’t know what happened with this page. The sketch took like two days to finish, and on top of that I forgot how to ink and color D:
XD Anyway, it’s finished
. I’ll start on the next page extra early so this doesn’t happen again.
Vote incentive is a little map of Luna’s route to the docks.
I changed Gregor’s surname :B. I had the sense to Google the old one before I did this page and it turns out I accidentally named Alvise (his son) after a Venetian slave trader D:. He was also an explorer, but the other thing is what most people would notice XD.
OMG, a huge thanks to Desna for reviewing Everblue ;__;.
Thanks for reading!

Wait, he did say south docks didn’t he? So when you draw the map, you draw south to the left? :S (And thus the business district is actually in the south-east, not the south-west?)
I’m assuming Luna’s freaked out about the amount of noise she’s making? She shouldn’t know that guy’s there yet, unless she developed super-hearing recently.
And yay for hopefully no more late updates. I love your work so much!

Oops XD. I made the map really quick and forgot to orient it correctly =P
Ack, and I forgot to put in the splash sound effect that caught her attention. I’ll go back and edit that in. Thanks for noticing that :].
Thanks so much!

Some sort of summary of a conversation that just happened
Me: So the map is sideways.
Seros: The dwarves have east at the top.
Me: Yeah but this is west.
Seros: So you know they’re not dwarves.
Me: … But we expect it to be north.
Seros: Well, Blue-Ten is actually from the Everblue world, that’s why the comic is so good.
Me: …
Random: That’s why the comic is out of this world!
*collective laughter*

You didn’t edit it? Or have you just been too busy (playing Minecraft)?

I guess the name on the boat is Gregor’s last name then?
And I’m impressed Luna can hear someone following her from that far off in the rain and over the ship noise, hopefully that gives her the extra time to escape that she needs!

Yep :]
Yeah, that was something I struggled with on this page. I needed the character to be far enough away that it could be silhouetted, but also close enough that Luna could hear the footsteps. I might go back in and bring them a bit closer.
Thanks!

It’s Ten isn’t it? Is it?! It’d better be, though I can only imagine what her reaction to that would be. If it’s, what’s his face, the guy she hit with the pole then I shall be very disappointed with the amount of time he was down for, and I shall hit him with a 50ft pole just to make it all better.

I’m thinking it’s neither of those. (Adamo di Seta for the one Luna smacked out.)
General consensus is that it’s a soldier at the very least. My theory for it not being Ten is that Gregor mentioned he handed his key in a while ago or something.

Man…. those chains…. They’re so details and pretty. I am jealous of this skill.
Also, man! The lighting! I can’t compliment you enough on your lighting and color palettes. Also, I’ve noticed a slight change in the way you draw faces, and even your care to lineart. It looks really nice~
I also think the mysterious silhouetted figure is Ten :B I call it! (watch as I’m probably wrong haha!)

Gah, the chains were such a pain to get looking right ;__;
Thanks so much!
I’m really glad you noticed the change to Luna’s face. I’ve been trying to gradually introduce more unique facial features to certain characters, Luna and Ten especially, since they kind of had that “generic” look going on XD.

So close…yet so far!

Oh scary silhouette guy, please be Ten. Please, please, please be Ten. And if you aren’t Ten…be someone friendly. *chews on fingernails*

I’m not complaining at all, but the suspense is killing me. It’s like watching a critical point in a movie frame by frame. I might cry with frustration. XD Love the wind change in the last panel, too.
Also, as someone who might be making their own webcomic some day, how do you plan out suspenseful moments such as this? (If you don’t mind me asking.)

Haha, sorry about that. It’s one of the pitfalls of having a weekly update schedule XD.
I have a script written out in screenplay format. I’m not really sure what’s best for planning out suspenseful scenes, but when trying to figure out what goes on a page I try to pick chunks of the script that move the story along while dropping little hints at an upcoming reveal (the boot in the previous page, and the silhouette in this one). I guess you could say I try to find a little cliffhanger moment for each page in the scene which can keep people guessing XD.
Thanks so much :]

I tend to save webcomic pages I find that look to me like really prime examples of everything a webcomic should be, so I have references and inspiration for my webcomic.
So far, every recent page of Everblue has made it in there. You are my hero, dude ;_; Every page is gorgeous! I mean….I look at every panel and it looks like a damn good screenshot from a movie, which is pretty amazing. I only hope my webcomic will look half as awesome as this!

Wow I always thought “Alvise Cadamosto” was a really unique name..I’d freak out a little seeing a “history parallel” of a character name like that! XD
That the third last panel with Luna’s ribbon hanging down itself establishes the scene pretty well on its own.
I can see why chains are so hard to draw here :B those chains. You even got the slightly rusty effect on them!
Silhouette guy/gal oh noes D: well as long as Luna’s got the binds loose, she can make progress! Determination! Things are going to get really entertaining mhmm yes :B
Agh! You’re the master of suspense with these updates of yours! MUST SEE MOREEE
oh and just a question..in the last panel does the wind suddenly change as a signal to the rain intensifying? (what with the raindrops and Luna’s hair being blown slightly) just trying to fit the pieces :B

Ok, I’m going to do the obligatory ‘hey, I just found this comic and I really love it’ speech.
I really like your comic! I can tell you’re working hard on this and you care for your characters, and your art style is so… so…. clean… (also, its cool to see how much you’ve progressed since the beginning, and you remain so consistent), yet expressive. Also, the story is really honest… er, I’ll elaborate… you pull it off effortlessly, without it being pretentious, and I’ve seen quite a few similar (for want of a better word!) comics that are off-puttingly so.
I have one critique though: your interiors sometimes look a little empty. You can show a lot about a character through their home/personal work space. Adding things like pictures, notebooks, open wardrobes, clothes on the floor or draped over a chair (etc) could really do a lot.
Only a suggestion though, feel free to throw it out the window
(Sorry for the rambling quality of this comment! I really love Everblue though, and I’m sticking around!)

I saw someone else comment about the lack of items in Luna’s house- I do believe Michael said the lack of furniture was an allegory of Luna’s personality. c:

I’m so glad you’re enjoying the comic.
Haha, and that’s a perfectly valid criticism. With Luna’s house, it was meant to emphasize the fact that she keeps her personal items neatly tucked away and guarded in her little corner, but I sort of made a habit out of drawing barren rooms (Gregor’s bar), and she probably should have regular things (pots, pans, dishes, tools, etc) around the house anyway XD. I’ve been trying to fix that lately, such as with the storage room a couple pages ago at the inn, but I definitely need to work on it a lot more :]. Thanks!

Ca’ da Mollin-something or other? Which means Molin’s house. (They usually don’t use the da though.) Somebody named their boat after a house? Or this is a house? Or it’s a house with a boat in it? Or somebody has a last name meaning Mllin’s House. Or maybe it just was meant to mean it’s owned by Molin’s House?
I’m having some fun here of course. Great page as always!

It’s his last name, which is why Luna recognized the boat right off the bat :]. Gregor Cadamolin. His surname has been shortened from something that originally meant “of the House of Molin” which would be “da Ca’ da Molin,” I think? XD I liked the way it looked expanded, but I should probably get rid of that apostrophe there so it makes more sense.
Haha, thank you

I think “of the House of Molin” would be da Ca’ Molin. I’ve never seen a double “da”. My understanding was ca’ is short for caxa. (Rather than the Italian casa. But Italian is Florentine-ish anyway.) But I’m definitely not a Venet expert. I think the only people who’d notice are native Venet speakers. (And as such they’d probably say we’re both wrong somehow!)

Your entire art style is so-so…clean. I cannot think of any other word to describe it. I have been reading this since the first couple pages but this is the first time I have commented. You are also very good at drawing rain and wet thins Mr. Blue-Ten.

They’re creeping up on you, Luna! Just kidding, of course.
