Sorry for the wait. Apart from me spending more time getting stuff ready for Sakuracon, things are a little complicated in real life now . It’s really frustrating because I know I could update these grayscale pages several times a week if I was better at managing my time.

XD Anyway, you might have noticed that the rendering is a little different on this page (my going back and forth on the technique for this page has contributed to the delay). I’ve decided to switch over to Photoshop for the shading. Manga Studio is nice and a breeze to use, but screentones are a bit cumbersome [for me] to work with. Grayscaling in Photoshop feels a lot more natural to me, and I think I like the result a bit more :]

Sorry about the wait. I’m busy getting Chapters 2 and 3 ready for Sakuracon, so the updates might slow down for a little bit. On the bright side, when I’m done I’ll be able to replace all the old pages with the new large-format ones :]

XD Slightly late, if you consider three days since the last page late (I do :B). Gotta try to keep to a schedule, it’s good exercise.

So it turns out my trouble with tones was just due to me being a Manga Studio noob. I figured out how to use Gray tones and adjusted the previous pages to have better rain lines XD.

Vote incentive is a comic strip featuring Luna and Dagger: “Luna’s Dress Code” :]

Having trouble with screentones. I’m sure it’d look okay in print, but thin lines on the tones end up looking really strange when I shrink the page down for the web. I’m leaving the rain lines out of this page, at least until I can figure out how to make it look… not terrible XD.

Just a reminder for people who might have missed the update: color pages will return in Chapter 4. The three upcoming vignettes (counting this one) are in black and white and update at least twice a week.

Slightly late XD. Still getting used to working in black and white, but I think it’s going well :].

Manga Studio is working out really nicely. It’s great to have all the pages available to switch through and just work on at random XD. Plus, it’s so much faster when the pages aren’t taking up all my computer’s RAM; I can actually work on these entirely from my laptop without worry.

Bastion’s 7

Normally I wouldn’t share a webcomic that only has one page out XD, but I’m really looking forward to this one. The art is by Sean “Cheeks” Galloway (Spectacular Spider-man, Hellboy Animated), and J. Torres (Teen Titans Go) is writing. You may have heard of these guys :B. It doesn’t have a website, but the pages will be posted to Table Taffy Studios on Deviant Art, which at least makes it easy to get updates :]

Cover page of the first vignette :]. As mentioned in the last update, these are mini-chapters that will follow-up the events of Chapter 3 and bridge the gap to Chapter 4. I’m doing them in grayscale, which means quicker updates (2-3 new pages a week). After the vignettes it’s back to normal full-color, so no need to worry about getting used to the faster pace :B.
